Methodology & coverage
This directory counts businesses filing customs declarations in the HMRC UK Trade Info dataset over the preceding six months, grouped by county and town via the ONS Postcode Directory. Forecasts are modelled estimates from a 24-month seasonal trend, not HMRC figures. HMRC publishes trader-level details for non-EU trade; EU-flow trader identities are not published and are excluded from counts.Bedfordshire →

What does “active importer” mean on this page?
A business that filed at least one import customs declaration in the HMRC UK Trade Info dataset during the six-month window shown at the top of the page.
Why don't the figures include EU trade names?
HMRC publishes trader-level details (names and postcodes) for non-EU trade only. EU-flow trader identities are not published, so they cannot appear in any directory built on this dataset — ours or anyone else's.
Can I see every business in a town?
The top businesses in each town are free. A login unlocks the full list, keyword and HMRC-category search, Companies House records, AI research and validated contact reveals.
